 In traditional Balearic homes, onions were a staple food. After harvesting, they were left to dry to improve preservation and stored in dry, well-ventilated places, protected from moisture.
 
 
 This method of preserving agricultural products allowed onions to be available for longer and maintained an essential ingredient of Balearic cuisine throughout the year.
