 When we talk about lavender, we're actually referring to a group of plants in the genus Lavandula. In the Balearic Islands, different species and varieties of lavender grow, adapted to the Mediterranean climate and the dry, sunny terrain.
 

 
 One of them is Lavandula dentata, recognizable by its toothed leaves and violet flower spikes. Its appearance is reminiscent of the lavender we know, but its leaves allow it to be distinguished.
 

 
 This diversity is easily overlooked: behind the same word, "lavender", lies a small botanical variety typical of the Mediterranean landscape.
