 The fig tree is one of the most characteristic trees of Formentera's agricultural landscape. The island preserves traditional varieties of figs, adapted to the dry climate and local cultivation.
 

 
 Among them is the Blanca, with its light-skinned fig. In Formentera, the centuries-old specimen known as Na Blanca d'en Mestre stands out, included in the Balearic Catalogue of Singular Trees since 1993.
 

 
 Varieties such as Coll de dama, Verdal, Martinenca and Algerina are also documented, with differences in color, size, flavor and ripening time.
 

 
 Figs were eaten fresh or dried and were also used to prepare pans de figa, a traditional method of preservation. The fig trees were trained with outstretched branches supported by stakes, a technique characteristic of the rural landscape of Formentera.
