 The names of the fish are part of Formentera's traditional vocabulary and maritime culture. Among the best known are the gall de Sant Pere, the llorito or raor, the fadrí, the anfós, the moll de roca, the xoriguer, the vaca, and the peto.
 

 
 Each name holds a part of the daily relationship of the people of Formentera with the sea and with traditional fishing. They are words that still evoke the rocky seabed, the waters of the island, and the bounty of the Mediterranean.
