 The agave (Agave americana) is a plant native to America that is naturalized in the Balearic Islands.
 
 
 Its large, fleshy leaves grow from a rosette and can take on curved and intertwined shapes, creating dense and distinctive structures. The plant develops a flowering stalk that can reach several meters in height.
 
 
 They were traditionally used to make ropes and ties and, in Ibiza, to make espadrilles eivissenques.
 
 
 The fiber is obtained from the leaves and processed to form strong threads and cords, suitable for these traditional uses.
