 The raor, also known as the galán in Spanish, is one of the most prized fish in the Balearic Islands. With an elongated body and vibrant colors, it lives on sandy bottoms where it buries itself for protection.
 

 
 Fishing for them is regulated and controlled to preserve the species. In the Balearic Islands, the fishing season traditionally begins on September 1st, after the closed season, when fishing is permitted in accordance with established regulations.
