The red scorpionfish, called "rotja" or "roja" in the Pitiüses Islands (Ibiza and Formentera), is a fish closely linked to the maritime tradition of the Balearic Islands. Its name refers to the reddish color of its head and body.
The first time I painted it was in Mallorca, and because of that personal connection, I kept the Mallorcan name Cap Roig as part of its identity. This name preserves the memory of the place where this representation originated and the relationship between the work and the island.
